Since 2009 the Executive Board of the Historical Geography Specialty Group has presented the annual Distinguished Historical Geographer Award to an individual whose careers and passions have guided and pushed the field of historical geography into the future. Centered around a lecture at the annual AAG and then printed in the following issue of Historical Geography, the award provides a glimpse into the history and diversity of HGSG and broader subdicipline of historical geography.
